Since I've Captured Some Attention On This Blog...

I was wondering....

For those of you who are married, or those of you who have attended weddings, what wedding favors did you give out? Or what favors have you received that you really liked???

I'm starting to freak out a little bit because the wedding is a little bit more than 5 weeks away and I still have no favors in mind! We just can't seem to think of anything... we are hoping to get people something that they can use, not just something that will sit around and collect some dust.

Its a small ceremony (30 guests max. if everyone brings a date) 4 (or 5 if the 5th comes) of the guests are small children. We are also doing Charlotte's christening right after we say our vows. Any input helps at this point!

Thanks :)

We made little white chocolate dove candies (you can get the molds and all the accessories for them at Michael's or a crafty store.)

Some REALLY cool favors I've seen recently is a CD (made on your own computer!) of favorite love songs of the couple, "Wedding Day" Yankee Candle votive, the usual matches with your names printed on the cover, hmmm... hopefully you'll get some other neat suggestions, too!

At my sister in law's wedding we used little cowboy hats and filled them with those little heart candies. The kids loved them. Can't help you with the adults though!

    Well since you're asking...

The only ones I like have been edible. Everything else: garbage. Oh, I did like one wedding where they gave out teeny sprigs of rosemary planted in small terra cotta pots (rosemary being for rememberance). To me that was the most beautiful, and really, what I think favors should be all about.

I had these silver coated heart chocolate and we put them in little noodle boxes and tied coloured stuff around them (in the theme colours). They doubled as place setting because tied onto each was a little name tag and in the back our names and the date of the wedding.

We went to a wedding yesterday that gave a little box tied with ribbon and iside were hart chocolates an a photo of the couple with a thankyou written on there. Their theme seemed to be these photos of them that were on the invite and the guest book and the favors.

One wedding handed out seed packets of wild flowers. They printed out the envelopes that said something comparing planting the seeds to starting a life together or something like that (and the bride and grooms name of course). The envelopes could be made or bought and printed on and you can buy seeds in big buckets. I thought it was neat and even planted the flowers.

At our wedding we made 1/2 pint jars of strawberry jam. I had labels made from an online provider - it was and address label but instead of the address I put our names and the date. Then the little jars I used a coordinating color fabric and topped it with lace and put it over the lid under the lid ring. So you know we had an outdoor wedding with about 200 guests and kind of a country-victorian theme - but not overkill. On the tables we had a variety of photos of us with family and friends in different frames and scattered flower petals.
