First time she sleeps through the night in her room! She sleeps all night but when she cries for her pacifier I go and get her, and now I think she needs to coming into our room, midway through the night. Something I never should've started I guess!

2. First Tooth: We're already well on our way. Her teeth are coming down/up now they just need to push on through!

3. First Snowfall: She's so observant that I can't wait to see that puzzled look on her face when we go outside to everything being white!

4. First Time She Crawls: That's one of those that I'm not sure I'm excited for! I just look around and see the baby proofing that will need to be done!

5. First Time We Go Swimming: We'll take "lessons" starting in Jan when she's old enough :)

6. First Word: What will it be, what will it be?

7. First Veggie She eats: Right now all she's had is cereal, but with veggies it will be a different reaction every 3-5 days...Think of the photo opts!

8. First Steps: Another one that I hold with mixed emotions.

9. First Day Of School: Yikes! That's all I have too say about that one.

10. First Outcry For Independence: Doesn't that come around age 2?

11. First Dance: I was so excited for mine, I hope she will be too!

12. First Best Friend: Maybe it will always be the same friend, but I had a few (we moved, and changed school board, so my friends changed).

13: First Date: I wonder how DH will handle that one!

***Now don't get me wrong, I'm loving everyminute (well almost every minute) but I still like to think about the future and what that may hold for my little Moon!

For more Thursday 13 please visit: 5 Minutes For Mom

Wordless Wednesday #5: Cereal 1st Time

Laughing....

That's right. She did it for 20 seconds, once, a few weeks ago. But just a few hours ago she did it again. And this time the laugh went on and on and on!

I loved every minute. I hope I remember that moment forever and ever.

We were just sitting on the couch, hanging out together after a bottle, and she looked at me and laughed. Why did I commit to a book club right now? Why did we wait so long for the marriage license? Why do we try to make everyone happy? Why does she compare her children's weddings? Aren't they individuals? Why didn't we just fly away and get married? Why? Why? Why?

I skipped Tackle it Tuesday this week because I wasn't home, we're home now, and we still have so much to do. The wedding is officially one month away!

I'll try and keep up here, but I don't know if I can. Also, Char seems to have picked up the beginning of a cold. She snoared a lot last night, and her nasal passages seem pretty closed up. She'll be three months old in two days, how time flies!

Procrastination...

Heather wants to know what we procrastinate with. Get my birth certificate because of where I was born I only have a baptism certificate, which is unacceptable in this province, so I need one before I can do anything else.

2. Get a marriage license (luckily found out that if this birth certificate stuff delays the license we can still get married...just won't be legal until we sign the papers)

3. Get a passport (again only once I have the birth certificate).

4. Buy the items needed for the wedding favors.

5. Put the favors together.

6. Choose and purchase the red and white wines.

7. Buy beverages for those who don't drink/are under age.

8. Plan and buy the food for the party after.

9. Put the food together (we're doing all that in the two days prior to the wedding)...crazy, I know!

10. Go for my dress fitting (was post poned because I just had a baby a couple months ago).

11. Call the photographer and send him a list of who's who in the wedding party.

12. Buy sweaters for my flower girl and bridesmaid ( my baby) and white ones just in case its cool!

13. Put the bouquets together....

Turns out there's more than 13 things but I have too stop here for now....I hope I get this done without going absolutely insane!

***For more Thursday 13 please visit 5 Minutes For Mom

Wordless Wednesday #3: Generations

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; I'm a creature of routine, I don't mind a deviation, but not everyday for three days in a row.

Charlotte was disturbed from a few naps, didn't sleep as long for the rest of the days, and proceeded to be awake on and off for several nights in a row. I want my baby with the good night sleep habits back! I always thought that sleep was going to get better the older she got, but its been getting worse. With getting sick, getting shots & fever, and having company around, its been a long 3 weeks.

That's why I didn't blog this weekend, and that's why my brain is so mushy that I'm almost certain I shouldn't even be blogging right now...LOL...

Anyhow, that my 2 cents about this long holiday weekend.

Since I've Captured Some Attention On This Blog...

I was wondering....

For those of you who are married, or those of you who have attended weddings, what wedding favors did you give out? Or what favors have you received that you really liked???

I'm starting to freak out a little bit because the wedding is a little bit more than 5 weeks away and I still have no favors in mind! We just can't seem to think of anything... we are hoping to get people something that they can use, not just something that will sit around and collect some dust.

Its a small ceremony (30 guests max. if everyone brings a date) 4 (or 5 if the 5th comes) of the guests are small children. We are also doing Charlotte's christening right after we say our vows. Dirty Dancing: Something about the dancing, the music, Baby's age, and those nice strong Patrick Swayze arms. I have been watching this movie since I was 13 or 14 and I even went out and got it on DVD, eventhough I had the VHS version!

2. How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days: Kate Hudson is great in this movie! The movie is so funny, and its nice to see a girl try to get a guy to breakup with her by purposely doing all the wrong things! Of course she falls for the guy. Just a great funny movie!

3. Grease: Yes more singing and dancing. And this time picture you with John Travolta! Ahhh that would be nice. I have also been watching this one since my very early teens. And I also bought this one on DVD eventhough I have it on VHS!

4. Uncle Buck: John Candy was a genius...well sort of :) I loved this movie when I was younger, and I still do! Just the sheer lack of knowledge that he has about children is hilarious! Nice to see him come around though.

5 & 6. Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Yes they're cheesey, but they were watched regularly around Christmas time in our house! I still watch them. I don't own them on DVD yet, but I will! Christmas season doesn't feel the same if I haven't watched both of these movies at least once!

7. Sweet Home Alabama: Reese tries to find the happy middle after trying to hide who she really is. A lot of people I know want to just forget and/or hide where they came from. In this movie you learn that you can't hide forever and you just need to accept it, find the middle ground, and move on with your life.

8. Lion King: Yes its Disney, yes its animated, but come on! That is a terrific movie with the same message (give or take) as the one above. You need to rise above your mistakes, accept who you really are, and move on with your life.

9. Chocolat: Other than my inner chocoholic self (which originally drew me to rent the movie), I bought it and watch it often because its...well...great. Another movie where the lead needs to make peace with her past and then move on (or stay put in this case). And the fact that there's tons of chocolate in the movie helps a little!

10. Twins: Yes the one with Danny DeVito and Arnold! I don't know why I like it, I don't know why I still watch it, but its one of the guilty pleasures that remind me of a simpler time way back when!

11. My Girl: I think this was the first movie that I read the book for first. I watched this one a lot when I was younger too, and I still watch it occasionally. It was nice to see a girl who was just as confused as I once was!

12. All Harry Potter Movies: I've read all the books more than once, I've seen every movie in theatres, and I own them all on DVD. I would officially say that I am addicted to the Harry Potter series and I can't wait for the 7th and last book, and the 5th movie to come out!

13. The 10th Kingdom: I'm not sure how to explain it. It was a mini-series on tv and is now on DVD. A girl makes her way through all the 10 kingdoms (each one is ruled by one of the ladies of fairytales, ie. snow white, etc...) The 10th kingdom is a newly discovered one (New York City)....its really cool for the ideas alone. I can't explain it, but you need to see it!

For more Thursday 13 go to: http://www.5minutesformom.com/

Wordless Wednesday - Week 2

For more Wordless Wednesday Entries please visit: http://www.5minutesformom.com/

Tackle It Tuesday - Week 2: After

I got carried away and I tidied up the rest of the livingroom (minus the desk and I'm not taking a picture of that!)...Its so hot in here, yuck! She has slept through the night 2 out of the last 3 nights! I hope it continues. And by sleeping through the night I mean 8:30-9 pm until 5:30-6 am. I am very much a morning person so bring it on. The only thing I wish is that her bedroom was not right next to ours (we're in an apartment), because she is a noisy sleeper. So I'm still often awake eventhough she's not!

Also she's rolling over...For the last three days. She goes from back to tummy and than proceeds to get very very angry because she really dislikes tummy time! What can I say she's on a roll these days! Also the poop has finally slowed down and she's back to 3-4 in a 24 hour period, and none in the night for the last three nights! Woohoo :)

The picture above was just me messing around with the digital camera a couple of days ago while she was exploring her peek-a-balls!

-----------------------------------------------------

On a totally unrelated note, I finally got a copy of A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, by Betty Smith after hitting 3 bookstores in the area! I didn't think it would be that complicated! So bring on the blogger bookclub. I'm really excited!

Thursday's Thirteen - Week 1

Thirteen Things To Do When I Have 10 Minutes For Me:

1. Sit on the balcony (no matter what time of day or the weather) and just look over the city and daydream.

2. Have a cup of coffee in silence.

3. Read a chapter in my current read (whatever that is).

4. Check my blog to comment on my comments :)

5. Look through Charlotte's photo album as a reminder of how fast she is growing.

6. Do 10 minutes of yoga (something I haven't done in a long while and miss).

7. Take a shower, just because.

8. Call a friend and have a quick chat.

9. Slowly eat a piece of, to-die-for, dark chocolate!

10. Lay still in a comfy spot.

11. Listen to a song or two, my current favorites.

12. Think about where I would be if I could be anywhere at the moment!

13. Watch Charlotte sleep. Angels watch over her, so it must be quite the site! And it is :)

Wordless Wednesday

For More Wordless Wednesday: http://www.5minutesformom.com/

Tackle It Tuesdays - Week 1

Well, yesterday I set out to organize Charlotte's toys into a bin (that I would have to locate in this apartment, and clean it out), and to organize her books. I have books that are for ages 0 to Teen so I wanted to take out the appropriate ones (0 to 1).

Well I actually did it! I think its quite the accomplishment considering she's been sick for a week, and I wasn't sure she was well enough that I would have the time to do it. But I did. I found a large bin, and put all her toys in there (now why does a 2 month old need so many toys?). I also went through all the books and took out the appropriate ones, put them on her shelf and I put the rest away, hooray for me!

So for my first week of Tackle It Tuesday I think I did pretty good. I didn't get before pics but I did get after pics! Of course Blogger's being retarded right now and I can't upload pics, but I'll try to do it later on today!

To see more, or learn more, about Tackle It Tuesdays visit 5 Minutes for Mom at http://www.5minutesformom.com/

Play-Doh Perfume...

Now, I'm all for creativity, but seriously? So the first couple of weeks of her life I was strictly breastfeeding and to make sure my little one was getting enough I logged what time she ate, for how many minutes, on which breast, how many wet diapers, how many BMs, what color they were, what consistency they were....and on and on and on.

Than I decided that she was doing fine and I needed to relax. Than entered the formula. And the poop charts started again (this time for far less time). Than I went to straight formula...no more breast milk (when are my boobs going to dry up btw???), and a few days later she got sick.

Well...the poop obsession is back again. She had diarrhea for a few days and now she's been a few days without it but the BMs just keep coming and coming and coming.

Ex. So far today:
1am: large, pb consistency
430am: small, normal (pb)
645am: tiny, normal (pb)
715am: tiny, cottage cheesey
8am: tiny, dark green, mucousy/stringy
915am: small, cottage cheesey

~the only reprieve seems to be when shes sleeping, though her BMs have been waking her up! I looked it up again today, and read that her BM's maybe more frequent for 7-10 days after a bout of diarrhea because the bowels are slow to heal! Can you imagine how many diapers that is? Also we've been running through cream like its going out of style! Her rash was terrible, broke my heart. She would cry and tremble and than "talk" to me about her pain for a minute or two after each change (if you can believe it they were more frequent and definitely watery at first!)...Now her rash is almost gone, so I don't want her to sit in it for 10 mins so she can decide to have a little more, but holy diapers batman!

I thought I wouldn't make it through all the size 1 diapers that we had, well we now have less than one pack left.

So now I wonder if i'll obssess and continue to log her poops for the next 5 days of if I'll just accept the fact that sleeping through the night is over again until she gets better...

I thought it was all about poop when I was working in daycare, but I think its more about poop now as a Momma, because you worry more, their yours...

In the picture she's at her sickest, can you even tell? I hope she's always that happy when she's sick. (Better yet, while I'm hoping, I hope she never gets sick again...LOL yeah right?)!

Charlotte's New Game

Well who knew. Here she is at 8 weeks old today, and she's sucked me into a game that I think is just hilarious!!! That's right...she'll look to catch my eye and she starts sticking her tongue out and she will stick it out over and over again until I do it too. Once I do it, she smiles, and then does it again! I don't know why I think its hilarious, but I do :)

The picture is from a couple of days ago but its pretty self-explanatory. Also as of two days ago Miss Moon is all full time bottles...I don't know how I feel about that yet. Charlotte and I are going to my mom's (Grandma's) for 3.5ish days and I get to go for my wedding dress fitting! It's been a year since I've seen my dress! And than Charlotte's Yia Yia is going to pick us up on the way to Ottawa, that way she can finally meet my mom! Of course I took some pictures too. It was bloody hot and we did go out in the evening with Scott and TL to have some Bubble Tea...it was so darn good and refreshing, but it was so darn hot outside to get to the bubble tea. Oh did I mention that when we got home the elevators (all three) were on the fritz and we had to walk up the stairs...not a big deal? We live on the 16th floor! Good thing we didn't have the stroller with us (she was strapped to me in the Snugli). I can't say that I ever want to do that again.
Anyhow...can you believe she's a month old already??? That's just insane!

First Time On Gym Mat!

What can I say? Isn't that cute? That was on Thursday...Charlotte turned 3 weeks old on that day. Already three weeks old. Can you imagine? Its crazy how fast it all goes and she's so much bigger (I know I've said this before).

Than Charlotte tried to get her revenge and she pulled some of his chest hairs! It ended up being easier than I thought, and yet more difficult. Turns out Wednesday was the worst day. My panic attacks are back (its been 5 years)...I seem to be able to "control" them right now, so I'll skip the doctor part for now, but if they get worse it looks like I'll have to go to the doctor a few weeks early.

Other than that Charlotte Moon started smiling (real smiles!). She did it on Wednesday night but didn't on Thursday. But this morning she was all smiles so the sticker is up on her calendar. Charlotte Moon officially started smiling today at 3 weeks and 1 day old :)

What else is new? Well she now weighs 9 pounds! Up from 7 pounds 10 ounces 2 weeks ago!
Eric gave her her first bottle on Wednesday evening and she loved it. Thursday she got her first taste of formula (one ounce) and today she had 2 ounces of formula. Those bottles were mostly breastmilk but I've decided not to continue pumping, mostly because I don't get much out of it (ounce wise). So the decision has been made and as of Sunday (because I still have a little frozen milk) she will have one formula bottle a day (in the second morning feed) and this will be the only bottle for now. In a few weeks I'll add a second bottle. I did this a week earlier than I had planned...mostly because I'm having a hard time (not with breastfeeding...which makes me feel guilty). We'll see how it goes!

That's it for now...

Daddy Went Back To Work!

So today was the big day! Daddy had to go back to work after being home for 2.5 weeks! Charlotte Moon is 18 days old today! Its crazy how the time flies. I thought today would be so much harder. Mind you I got out with Alexa and Charlotte's having another easy going kinda day, so we'll see when we have a rough day how that goes alone with her.

I need to learn to nap when she sleeps. I feel that since she sleeps 3-4 hours and then another 2-3 hours in the night that I get enough but I'm still exhausted by the time 3 or 4pm hits (like right now). And than I feel like its too late to nap.

Other than that I do miss the constant talking companion of Eric and I'm sure little Charlotte Moon misses her Daddy too! Here's another picture that I took of her today...she's always sleeping it seems! Time flies....She looks so different already than she did two weeks ago. Also I'm sure she's around the 8 pound mark already! Her fingers are actually getting some meat on them!

She was born on May 18th, 2006 after 26 long hours of labour! She was 7 lbs 10 oz. at birth, and around 7lbs 6 oz when she left the hospital. She was back to her birth weight on Friday May 26th, 2006. So a week later, I wonder where she's at!

She has met her Grandma (my mom), 3 or her 4 uncles (only Steve hasn't met her), her one and only Aunt, her Nana (Eric's mom), and this weekend her Grandpa and Yia Yia are coming to meet her. I'm hoping to make some progress before than (or even better give birth) but I'm not really sure that's going to happen. My cervix is now thicker and her head is a little lower which is *some* progress but its not very much. Maybe the full moon tonight will kick things into gear, who knows?

Week Forty

Much of the vernix has vanished but you will notice traces on her body.

15% of your child's body is fat. Since she hasn't learned to shiver yet, these fat stores will help regulate her temperature.

Approximately 60 - 75 percent is water!

Your baby's chest sticks out, almost as if she's ready to strut proudly over her accomplishment!

Her lungs will continue developing until birth. They are manufacturing large quantities of surfactant which works to keep the air sacs open.

She continues to grow; her hair and nails longer as well. You may need to trim those fingernails soon after birth or protect her face from scratches with mittens.

Small breast buds are present on both sexes.

The baby now weighs 7.6 pounds (3462gm) and is 20.2 inches (51.2cm) long.

Newest approximation of her weight was on Tuesday at 8 1/2 pounds!

Congratulations! Since she hasn't been moving as much as she used to, and also because my belly seems to be shrinking in size but not getting any lower I have bought myself another ultrasound!

The norm is 2, and this will be the fifth one, and its slated for Tuesday 320pm. I'm hoping that everything is good in there. Though if the fluid levels are low (which is part of what they want to see) than I've also bought myself an early induction...Kinda makes me nervous because it almost seems like inductions are turning quickly into c-sections especially at the hospitals out here. Because there is no air around her, those breathing exercises cause amniotic fluid to get into her windpipe. The result? Hiccups!

Your child's intestines are accumulating lots of meconium. Meconium takes on the role of being your baby's first bowel movement -- removing the waste that has accumulated.

She may have a full head of hair now -- an inch or more long! It may just persuade you to take a closer look at your family tree!

Circumference of head and abdomen are about the same size for your baby. Isn't it amazing how she can breathe "under water?"

Grasp is firm now. It won't be long until you'll feel that strong little fist confidently grasping your finger (or tightly clenching your hair)!

A few weeks ago, your baby would move her eyes toward light. Now she turns towards light outside the uterus.

" As the uterine wall stretches and thins allowing more light to permeate, she develops definite daily activity cycles. You will want to be sure to establish good patterns yourself at this time, thus encouraging them in your child. Ever heard of a baby getting her days/nights mixed up? While certainly you are both growing anxious to meet, remember that each day (up to 42 weeks), that your little one stays within your womb will multiply her chances to breathe on her own.

If she hasn't already, this week your baby may drop into the birth canal. While breathing for mom becomes easier, walking may be the exact opposite! If she's not your first baby, this "lightening" may not occur until right before labor.

Fat is dimpling your baby's elbows and knees, and forming creases in the neck and wrists.

Her skin is growing smooth and, shall we say it, "baby" soft.

Her gums are very rigid. It won't be many months before you'll see her teeth.

She has a fully developed pair of kidneys and her liver has begun processing some waste products.

Your child's average size is now 18.66 inches (47.4cm) and 5.78 pounds (2622 g). Between now and birth she will gain about an ounce a day!
(She's already estimated to be bigger than that...).

Week 35

Week Thirty-Five

The average baby weighs almost five and a half pounds now. (But my monkey is already bigger than that).

Most babies born now will survive and without many long-term problems.

Fat accumulations plumps up the arms and legs this week. These layers of fat will help her regulate her body temperature. They also provide those cute little dimples on elbows and knees!

Her hearing is fully developed, so be sure to talk to your daughter. Do you find yourself speaking in a high-pitched tone? That's okay since some studies show babies respond better to higher pitches.

It's getting crowded! Your baby is now taking up most of the uterus and you may even feel like your chest has run out of room! Soon enough though, baby will move down and you'll be able to breathe easily again (just not walk so easily! Ha!).

Your baby is 18.2 inches (46.2cm) long and weighs 5.3 pounds (2383gm).

The testes have completed their descent in males.

Taken from: http://www.pregnancy.org/pregnancy/fetaldevelopment3.php#week35

Week 35 Ultrasound!

Holy big baby Batman!

She's looking like she's somewhere between 5lbs 10oz and 6.5lbs! I still have 4-5 weeks to go and that means you need to add another 2 to 2.5lbs and that makes her in the 8lbs range....that's where I was so I don't know why I would expect anything else!

Another thing is, she's got a head full of hair! I thought that was really cool, and it looks like the technician is putting my due date more like May 2nd, and not May 12th (which is exactly where I thought I was). I keep saying I'll have her May 3rd (wishful thinking I know!).

Click on this to see her face:

April 5th Ultrasound picture

Its a digital picture of the u/s because I don't wanna wait until Eric comes home to scan the u/s picture....

Sesame Street Videos Spark Controversy

Here's the link to the article:

http://entertainment.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=220194&GT1=7703

Basically people are freaking out because Sesame Street is coming out with a new line of videos geared towards the 6 months to 2 years age group! Parents/people are not suggesting that we sit our infants in front of the TV all day long, but it would be nice to have an option other than the Baby Einstein videos for a 30 minute distraction/interaction for your children.

They say that no one under the age of 2 should be watching ANY tv. Do they really think that most parents/caregivers wait until children are 2 to turn the TV on for them? I used to let Rachel watch TV at 14 months and let me tell you, they don't sit and watch. They have it in the background and play with their toys. Sometimes she would sit and watch but never for more than a few mins. Mostly she would turn around and dance/sing when there was a song on the TV. What's wrong with that???

Week 34

Week Thirty-Four

Your baby acts completely like a newborn, with her eyes opened when awake and closed when sleeping. You may also find her settling into more of a routine for sleeping & awake times.

She has learned to blink. She can also see more clearly when there is a bright light on your stomach and probably has the outline of all your organs memorized!

Antibodies from your blood are being tranferred to her. These immunities continue to build until birth. Then breastmilk will add even more protection against disease.

Your baby may have already turned to a head-down position in preparation for birth. If she is your first baby, she may be settling into the pelvis with her head pressing against your cervix.

Fingernails have reached the end of the fingertips now. She may scratch her face even before she is born!

Your little one's length is 17.7 inches (45cm) and weight is 4.7 pounds (2146 g).

*This was taken from http://www.pregnancy.org/pregnancy/fetaldevelopment3.php#week34
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We'll hopefully see next Wednesday if that weight holds true. I'm pretty sure she's a bit bigger than that since I was a BIG baby, and so were my siblings! More importantly, I hope that she's finally head down. Breech means c-section which I would love to avoid.

Front View of my Belly at 33 weeks:
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c149/ImogenSky/BabyBellyMar262006full.jpg

Side View of my Belly at 33 weeks:
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c149/ImogenSky/BabyBellyMar262006sidea.jpg

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Art of Being Alone...

So here I thought that I just couldn't wait to be done with work. Granted my back was killing me and I was beyond exhausted by the end of the day. Being 7 months pregnant and carrying infants 5 months-17 months of age around all day just isn't the easiest of jobs.

Well last week was my first week off and I was busy all week so I was fine. Fast forward (or rewind) to this passed Monday/Tuesday and oh my! I was so beyond bored and I felt so secluded from the rest of the world! And as it turns out when I'm not talking to much of anybody all day long I start to go a little crazy. I neurotically pay attention to every little tiny ache/pain/symptom that I have, and being pg there's a lot of them!

You start thinking that maybe all the things you're feeling, or not feeling, mean things like pre-eclampsia, etc... I actually can't wait until my OB appts start to be weekly because then I'll have less time to think about these things.

So here's hoping that the next 6 weeks go somewhat smoothly, and that I re-adjust to being on my own for most of the day. Soon our little sweetpea will be here, and then I won't get a minute to myself.
